How to write good articles that engage readers from beginning to end?

I have been writing articles on medium for almost two years now. I always wanted to write good articles that engage readers. So I started researching on How to write a good article. In this article, I’m going to list down my findings so you can use them in your next article.

Let’s start from the beginning of the article,

1. Use a catchy title

First of all, you need to get readers attention to reading the article. A reader chose an article based on the title so it needs to be catchy. But you should not use clickbait titles. You can find different strategies for creating a good title.

2. Keep your sentences and paragraphs short

Having long sentences and paragraphs leads to losing the attention of the reader. Even for our eyes, it’s hard to read long paragraphs, you feel lazy to read. You need to find some ways to keep your content short without losing its value.

3. Creates drafts

I know it’s painful to cut things out but it’s very important. When the first draft is complete, examine it and remove all unnecessary and repetitive ones. If the sentence does not enhance your reasoning, remove it! After this first brutal stage of editing, reread the article to make sure each sentence flows naturally to the next.

4. Research efficiently

Research is important in any writing, but it’s easy to fall into the trap of spending a lot of time on research and not having enough time to write the first draft. When looking for facts or statistics to support your reasoning, try to be as specific as possible in your search terms.

5. Practise

The final and unstated rule of good writing is practice. When you practise, you get better. It’s very simple. Write more and more articles one day you’ll be able to write great articles.

6. Read More

Reading promotes learning and uses your skills in different areas. Read more and more and try to identify the tricks that writers have used.

These are the some of things I find valuable to me. I hope you also learn something useful.

Good Luck with writing!

With that, we came to the end of the article. Don’t forget to check out my other articles as well. See you guys at the next one. Until then stay safe! ✌️
